How To Turn Your Laptop Into A PC: Easy Steps
There is no denying the fact that using a laptop is easy. When you have a portable computer, you can do almost anything. Sometimes, though, you want something a little more stable. There are many benefits to having a PC that you just don’t get with a laptop. Why is that? If you want to make the most of your laptop, whether it is a Mac or gaming laptop, you should turn it into a PC. Here is how you can do just that.
Step 1: Sort out your desk area
Before you do anything, you need to make sure that there is room for your PC on your desk. As you know, laptops don’t tend to take up much room at all. That means that you will not have loads of space on your current desk. You should make sure that there is a great power supply near the area so that you don’t have to mess about with too many wires. That way, you will find it easy to connect up all the different components.
Step 2: Get an external screen
One thing that many people miss when they switch from using a PC to a laptop is the screen size. If you have always worked on a large screen, you might find it tricky to make the change. Never fear, you can buy external screens online for next to nothing. Of course, you need to make sure that the screen has an HDMI port so that you can connect it to your PC. You should also check that it is high resolution. When you use the screen, you need to make sure that it is high quality
Step 3: Get an extra keyboard
If you have a notebook or a small laptop, you will notice that the keyboard is a little smaller than you might need. This problem is common among technology buffs, and so you are not alone at all. Get yourself a mechanical keyboard so that you can use it externally. Once you have this extra piece of equipment, it will be straightforward to use. You should, of course, check whether your laptop is compatible with the keyboard before you buy it. You can ask people in the store or check the details online and see what they think. That way, you will avoid wasting your hard earned cash on something that won’t work.
Step 4: Connect it all up
Once you have these two pieces, you can connect them to your laptop. You should get an HDMI cable to connect the pieces up. It should not take you longer than a few minutes to do, and so it won’t cause you much trouble at all. Make sure that you have a proper power supply for your new devices. Remember, you might need more power than you did before, and so you need to check the plugs you use are compatible with one another.
Step 5: Increase the memory
Most laptops have less memory than computers. There are ways in which you can increase the memory of your particular device, and it should not take you too long. If you look at video tutorials online, you should find that increasing the RAM of your computer is super easy. Decide how much memory you think you need. You don’t have to be an engineer to complete this step, and so you don’t need to worry about it. If you find that it is too difficult, take your laptop to a store. They will help you along the way, and so you should have more memory before you know it. Simple!
