Everything You Need to do On Your Scottish Adventure

Scotland Forrest

There are so many great things to do in Scotland. But here are some of the key things that every true adventurer has to do while they’re there.

Walk Through the Caledonian Forest

The Scots pines you’ll find in the Caledonian Forest are directly descended from the first pines to arrive in the country after the end of the ice age. This means the forest has been there for about nine thousand years. You should definitely take the chance to walk through this ancient forest because it’s one of the finest forests in western Europe. You can spend hours in the forest, exploring the wildlife and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world.

See the Cuillin Mountains

On Skye, you’ll find one of the most majestic views of any natural landscape you’ll find in all of Britain. The Cuillin Mountains sit next to Loch Scavaig, and once you see them, it’s a sight you’ll never forget for as long as you live. You can take a boat across the loch to get the best view of them. Or you can hire a guide and take a hike up the mountain if you’re looking for an even greater adventure. When the mist forms over the loch, the scene is even more captivating, so it’s a place you have to visit.

Visit a Highland Distillery

One of the things that Scotland is most famous for is its whiskey. There are five distinct regions of whiskey production in Scotland. There’s the Lowland, Highland, Speyside, Islay, and Campbeltown. These five regions are all different, but they all make great whiskey. You should definitely grab the chance to visit at least one of these distilleries while you’re in the country. But try not to get too drunk! You could even buy a few bottles of scotch as a gift for your friends back home while you’re there.

Glengorm Castle on the Isle of Mull

Glengorm Castle is a 19th-century structure that now operates as a bed and breakfast guest house on the Isle of Mull. It’s surrounding by beautiful coastlines and stone circles for you to explore. The Isle of Mull itself is pretty incredible too. It’s located to the west of the Scottish mainland, so you can take a boat out to it. Once you’re there, you’ll find a stunning natural landscape perfect for people who love walking and hiking in a natural environment. What more could you want than a good place to stay in a beautiful location?

Climb the Highest Peak in Britain

There are a couple of options for people looking to climb Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. For beginners who haven’t done much climbing before, there’s the Tourist Path, which is a lot easier. But if you already have some experience of climbing, this is not the route you’ll want to take. Instead, you should follow one of the more intermediary paths. The views you get as you ascend the mountain are simply breath-taking. There’s no better way to see Scotland than from the top of Ben Nevis!
