Cross Country Train Leaving Newcastle Train Station

Cross Country Trains WiFi – I have just spent the last hour and a bit trying to figure out the wireless on this Cross Country Train. (Currently sat on the way back from Edinburgh to Newcastle service).

Yes, this is a paid service, but it seems I cannot even get to the stage where the wireless asks to put any details in on my iPhone. (Select Settings > WiFi > CrossCountryWifi > …Nothing…)

It seems connects to the service, I obtain an IP address but then nothing. I expect a pop up stating first hour free usage, and then pay per hour, but there is nothing (even when opening up safari to try and browse to Google, there is no connection details page login thing displayed).

On the other hand. How does it work. I’m assuming the company use a 3G provider (mobile) to obtain Internet, which means if there’s no mobile service will there be wireless?!

Rant over. Cross Country Trains WiFi – Unusable… Comment below.
