Portfolio

I am a freelance web designer based in County Durham, England, who at the moment builds websites as more of a hobby, working around work and university. I create beautiful, usable, professional websites using best practice accessibility and the latest W3C web standards, resulting in semantic and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) friendly XHTML and CSS.

To build the pages, my weapons of choice are Adobe Photoshop (to design the layout of the site) and Adobe Dreamweaver produce my hand crafted CSS and XHTML code. My current Content Management Systems (CMS) of choice are WordPress and GetSimple. I also have experience of Microsoft’s SharePoint website design and management.

DrivingRoads

This is a personal project website I have been creating. This website was created after I came up with the idea of creating planned routes for TomTom Satellite Navigation’s after I created a couple of “Driving Routes” for myself and friends to use on Satnav’s. I have just recently updated the website to run on WordPress, with a slightly new approach to the way the website works and a slightly changed theme.

Tow Info

Yet another one of my personal projects I have been working on for the past few weeks. This is still under construction, but the overall theme and layout are final (just need to add content, and a few database applications to create)

Technologies Used: WordPress, Photoshop, XHTML, PHP, CSS, PHP, SQL

SwiftOwners

This is another personal site which I have created and used to administrate. The site was created for the Suzuki Swift Drivers of England, where they could join and discuss their cars and find out common faults and solve technical problems. I recently stood down as Chairman of the club, and passed everything down to the next in charge.

Technologies Used: OSCommerce, PHPBB, Photoshop, XHTML, PHP, CSS

Performance Graphics

The customer required a bright easy to use website where they could display the services they offered and a showcase of their work. They also required an e-commerce shop where they would be able to sell their goods.

James has taken what we had written down and turned it into the perfect site we were looking for. I would really recommend James to anyone.

Brittons Bakery

The customer didn’t have any prerequisites for the site (apart from getting the business name and details online), and I was allowed to take the site any way I wanted.

All we required was a site to get our name and business details on the web, and James has done just that, and buffet sales has shot through the roof. Would recommend to anyone

Clairdale Beagles

The customer required a website to show off her show Beagles, and possibly allow her to sell Beagle Puppies.

James visited me at work, and allowed me to be as creative as I wanted with the website. He made the website exactly to my needs in a short space of time. Very pleased with the end product.

Dan Simpson

This is a small blog website I have created for my brother, as he was interested in what I did, and wanted to do something similar.

M Richardson Joinery

The customer wanted a simple website where he could just get his name on the world wide web, and have a little show case of the type of business he can take on.

Colin Smith Photos

Colin required a website to showcase and advertise his photography business. The website needed to be simple, with photos the main highlight of the website.

James has done a great job in creating this website for me.
