The diagram shows exactly how fuel is injected into the cylinder of the engine, then compressed, and then combusted to create power for your car, and these fumes are then expelled out into the exhaust, to which the whole process starts again, thousands of times a second.
There is also a diagram on how new hybrid vehicles work, taking electric motors – these sure do look simpler then using a fuel engine.
