Very informative guide, would i be able to swap my Ford 6000CD unit in my MK4 09 Mondeo for the Sony 6000CDC?

Hi James thanks for the information on the MK4 radio removal.Please I would like to ask you further question:
My version is of Ford galaxy 2007/08 model with sat nav dvd, which seem to have both the sat nav radio, and the A/C attached or inseperatable . Can I remove the sat nav radio without affecting the A/C ,’cos I would love to replace the entire sat nav radio system?.Please do shed more light on this.

Hi James,thanks for the clue on how to remove MK4 radio,but I still have some question to ask and if you don’t mind try and reply…
My version is such that the A/C and the radio seem attached … is it possible to remove the radio from the dash without affecting the A/C.I would love to replace the mk4 sat nav radio with any other sound system ,is that possible please help ?.

An Abarth Punto Evo would definitely be on my list, looks like an amazing bit of fun! And if you don’t fancy the fiat then there’s also the Ford Fiesta Metal Special Edition which looks immense!

Brilliant instructions many thanks it made my life a lot easier. I do have a question you may be able to help with though. After changing my head unit the problem turned out to be a blown rear speaker! I have been offered 2 x front speakers from a MK4 Mondeo are they the same size etc as the rear?

Really appreciate your help with this.

I’ve just checked the stereo and removed and reconnected the quadplug.

There are connecting pins for the part B & C on the diagram, 12 in all. I’ve noticed on the old cd6000 unit there are only 4 pins on the unit where they plug into the connector C side (corresponding pins 5, 6, 11 & 12)

I’ve also noticed that if I crank the stereo right upto top volume I can faintly hear the mp3 player, so it is connecting, just not giving me full volume for some reason? I’m using the same mp3 player and lead so it must be the stereo.

Thanks for your ongoing help, I know I can use MP3 discs but the aux in facility would be handy.

Hi Mark,

Double check the connector in the back of the quadlock connector, the aux connection is at the top (or bottom) of the connector:

As above image, where it says connector B and C – this is where the aux goes into the stereo.

Hi James

Thansk for your help. I decided to purchase the fitted Sony unit and thanks to your great instructions have managed to replace the cd6000 with no problem.

The only issue is, I have lost my aux in capability, everything else works fine.

Any ideas?
